The picture on the left shows an English Toastmasters Association trained toastmaster working at the Turner Conteporary gallery at the Rendezvous, Margate, Kent for Her Majesty the Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal visit on Friday 11th November 2011. Amongt other duties, the toastmaster organised the receiving line and the two minutes silence for this Royal visit and was accompanied by his wife who was also working at the event and may be seen in the right hand picture.
Her Majesty The Queen met with gallery Director Victoria Pomery, Chairman John Kampfner and other key members of staff.
Her majesty was then taken on a tour of the gallery, where she was introduced to guests including Margate born and bred artist Tracey Emin who was introduced to the royal couple in front of the J. M. W. Turner's master piece from 1815 - Crossing the Brook which is on loan from the Tate Gallery. Tracey Emin officially launched the gallery when it opened in April 2011 at a cost of £17M.
Architect Sir David Chipperfield who designed the gallery has since seen over 300,00 visitors, was also introduced to the royal couple. The gallery was expecting only 150,000 visitors for the entire year and gallery director Victoria Pomery said "It has been hugely successful, beyond my wildest expectations."
Deputy Director of Tate Alex Beard was also introduced to the royal couple and a plaque to commemerate this occasion was unveiled by Her Majesty.
'We have had a fantastic response from our visitors, who have travelled from far and wide to Margate to experience the gallery and the art we have on display for free here.
We know the positive benefits we have already brought to the local economy, and I am delighted that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have been able to witness this impact for themselves.' commented Victoria Pomery, Director of Turner Contemporary.

And it's so exciting - Margate's on the map again.' commented Tracey Emin, artist. This royal visit to Margate by Her Majesty was the first since 16th July 1993.
Margate is now an up and coming thriving seaside town in Kent showing excellent signs of regeneration with over 35 new businesses opened up in the Old Town in the last 18 months and even the beach has been cleaned.

Some previous Royal Toastmasters
It is with sadness that we learnt about the death of Ivor Spencer MBE, one of the greatest toastmasters of our time. Born on 20th November 1924, he died at the age of 84 on 10th January 2009. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Ivor Spencer had an easy but respectful relationship with most members of the Royal Family and it was said that the Queen Mother was his favourite.
Ivor Spencer was the Founder and Life President of the Guild of International Professional Toastmasters which he established over thirty years ago, a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London, and in his role as a master of ceremonies he officiated at well over 1,000 royal occasions, an achievement that became the subject of a congratulatory parliamentary motion after his 1,000th event in 1992.
In 2002 he was awarded the MBE and in 2006 he completed 50 years as a toastmaster, a record acknowledged by the Queen in a message of good wishes.
He derived wry amusement and pride from being labeled “a snob” by the late Princess of Wales. One of his favourite members of the Royal Family was Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and on her landmark birthdays he and his fraternity of toastmasters would be in attendance at Clarence House to present her with a Nebuchadnezzar of champagne, the equivalent of 20 bottles. Ivor Spencer told her: “It will be very nice when your family come round, ” to which Her Majesty, who hugely enjoyed a tipple, replied: “Even if they don’t, I’ll polish it off myself.”

Tributes to London toastmaster town crier Peter Moore who sadly passed away on December 20th 2009
London's larger than life town crier Peter Moore sadly passed away just before christmas, Mr Moore, who was Southwark's town crier, toastmaster and deputy mace bearer, died at his Wandsworth home on December 20th 2009. He carried out his last official engagement at the Southwark Mayor councilor Jeff Hook's christmas reception the day before. In November he appeared at the South London Press Heroes award ceremony to present an award.
Mr Moore was London's official town crier for 31 years and also represented London Mayor Boris Johnson. North Southwark and Bermondsey MP Simon Hughes said he was a "larger than life character", he said "he would be greatly missed by the thousands who knew him and by the many others who will have seen him doing his duties but never had the privilege of getting to know him".
Councilor Hook, said Mr Moore was a "kind and caring person who strived to carry out his official duties, even when not enjoying the best health". He said "Peter was a close friend and acted as a master of ceremonies at our civil partnership". "He will be sorely missed at future civic events in Southwark and across London".
Mr Moore's former partner, Maxine Howard, 48, said he had suffered two heart attacks earlier this year. He also spent several weeks in hospital when he was knocked off his beloved scooter in September. Miss Howard said "He didn't have a very good year but Peter was a trooper and never let anything get him down". "He had the most wonderful speaking voice - amazing dulcet tones and he was charming and charismatic, he could just hold a room".
He attended Charles and Diana's wedding in 1981 and appeared on the David Letterman Show.
Miss Howard said, "You name it Peter's done it. He always just wanted to represent all that London had to offer".
On being presented to Royalty, men ought to bow (from the neck, not the waist) and women should curtsey.
Do not offer to shake hands. If a hand is offered to you, you should not apply any pressure when shaking hands,
As a general guide, when addressing Royalty you do not use the word "you", but instead "Your Majesty" or "Your Royal Highness" in
conversation. Generally you would say "I hope that Your Royal Highness would care to look at ......?"
spoken to before you speak to Royalty.
For male members of the Royal Family the same rules apply, with the title used in the first instance being 'Your Royal Highness' and subsequently 'Sir'.
For other female members of the Royal Family the first address is conventionally 'Your Royal Highness' followed by 'Ma'am' in later conversation.
An Emperor or Empress:
Royal Family Name
Members of the Royal Family can be known both by the name of their Royal house, and by a surname, which are not always the same. And often they do not use a surname at all.
People often ask whether members of the Royal Family have a surname, and, if so, what it is.
Before 1917, members of the British Royal Family had no surname, but only the name of the house or dynasty to which they belonged.
Kings and princes were historically known by the names of the countries over which they and their families ruled. Kings and queens therefore signed themselves by their first names only, a tradition in the United Kingdom which has continued to the present day.
Just as children can take their surnames from their father, so sovereigns normally take the name of their 'House' from their father. For this reason, Queen Victoria's eldest son Edward VII belonged to the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (the family name of his father Prince Albert). Edward VII's son George V became the second king of that dynasty when he succeeded to the throne in 1910.
In 1917, there was a radical change, when George V specifically adopted Windsor, not only as the name of the 'House' or dynasty, but also as the surname of his family. The family name was changed as a result of anti-German feeling during the First World War, and the name Windsor was adopted after the Castle of the same name.
At a meeting of the Privy Council on 17 July 1917, George V declared that 'all descendants in the male line of Queen Victoria, who are subjects of these realms, other than female descendants who marry or who have married, shall bear the name of Windsor'.
It was therefore declared in the Privy Council that The Queen's descendants, other than those with the style of Royal Highness and the title of Prince/Princess, or female descendants who marry, would carry the name of Mountbatten-Windsor.
This reflected Prince Philip's surname. In 1947, when Prince Philip of Greece became naturalised, he assumed the name of Philip Mountbatten as a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.
The effect of the declaration was that all The Queen's children, on occasions when they needed a surname, would have the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.
The surname Mountbatten-Windsor first appeared on an official document on 14 November 1973, in the marriage register at Westminster Abbey for the marriage of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips.
A proclamation on the Royal Family name by the reigning monarch is not statutory; unlike an Act of Parliament, it does not pass into the law of the land. Such a proclamation is not binding on succeeding reigning sovereigns, nor does it set a precedent which must be followed by reigning sovereigns who come after.
Unless The Prince of Wales chooses to alter the present decisions when he becomes king, he will continue to be of the House of Windsor and his grandchildren will use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.
Line of succession
The order of succession is the sequence of members of the Royal Family in the order in which they stand in line to the throne.
The basis for the succession was determined in the constitutional developments of the seventeenth century, which culminated in the Bill of Rights (1689) and the Act of Settlement (1701).
The succession to the throne is regulated not only through descent, but also by statute; the Act of Settlement confirmed that it was for Parliament to determine the title to the throne.
The Sovereign must, in addition, be in communion with the Church of England and must swear to preserve the established Church of England and the established Church of Scotland. The Sovereign must also promise to uphold the Protestant succession.
